Escobar popped out for the second out of the inning and Mariano ended his career at that point. Captain Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte then went out to the mound and hugged Mariano good-bye. Tampa Bay defeated the Yankees 4-0.

On the first play from scrimmage in Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium, Denver Bronco’s center Manny Ramirez snaps the ball over the head of quarterback Peyton Manning resulting in a safety for the Seattle Seahawks and the quickest score in Super Bowl history. Unfortunately, for Denver, they never recovered and lost 43-8.
On the very first play from scrimmage, Denver Broncos running back, Knowshon Moreno, recovers an errant snap from center in the end zone giving the Seattle Seahawks a safety, the quickest score in Super Bowl history(12 seconds). This play typified the rest of the game as virtually everything went wrong for the Broncos in one of the most lopsided games in Super Bowl History. Seattle won 43-8.

Denver Broncos faced the Seattle Seahawks to decide the championship for the 2013 season. The Seahawks defeated the Broncos 43–8, the largest margin of victory for an underdog and tied for the third largest point differential overall (35) in Super Bowl history with Championship XXVII (1993). It was the first time the winning team scored over 40 points, while holding their opponent to under 10. This became the first Championship victory for the Seahawks and the fifth Super Bowl loss for the Broncos, the most of any team. The game was played on February 2, 2014, at MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the first Super Bowl played outdoors in a cold-weather city.
