This is a collection of the most “Iconic Images” captured by Dick Druckman since 1984 when he started following his passion for shooting professional athletes in action, at some of the most special events in sporting history.

  • The 1999 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 70th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of the American League (AL) and National League (NL), the two leagues comprising Major League Baseball. The game was held on July 13, 1999 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts, the home of the Boston Red Sox of the American League.

    In two innings, AL starting pitcher Pedro Martinez struck out the first four batters of the National League, becoming the first pitcher in history to begin the All-Star Game striking out the side. In all he struck out five of the six batters he faced, earning him Game MVP honors, becoming the second player in All-Star Game history to be named MVP as a member of the host team. The game resulted in a win for the American League by the final score of 4-1.

  • Wayne Gretzky played 20 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for four teams from 1979 to 1999 before finishing his career with the New York Rangers. Nicknamed “The Great One“, he has been called “the greatest hockey player ever” by many sportswriters, players, and the NHL itself. He is the leading scorer in NHL history, with more goals and more assists than any other player. He scored more assists than any other player scored total points, and is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season – a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, he tallied over 100 points in 16 professional seasons, 14 of them consecutive. At the time of his retirement in 1999, he held 61 NHL records: 40 regular-season records, 15 playoff records, and six All-Star records. As of 2014, he still holds 60 NHL records.
