  • Philadelphia Eagles defensive end, Derek Barnett, sacks the Chicago Bears quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky, in the second quarter. The Eagles went on to defeat the Bears 22-14.

Take a look at these selected images from the Chicago Bears vs Philadelphia Eagles, won by the Eagles 22-14.

The Philadelphia Eagles tried to blow a 19-point lead to the Chicago Bears, but managed to hold on for a 22-14 victory in a rematch of the NFC Wild Card Game to move to 5-4 on the year. Philadelphia allowed the Bears to score 14 unanswered points after taking a 19-0 lead in the third quarter, but put together one of their most impressive drives of the season in taking 8:14 off the clock in the fourth quarter, converting four consecutive third downs in the most critical junction of the game.

Chicago never got the ball back after Jake Elliott hit a 38-yard field goal with 26 seconds left to make it 22-14. Bears tight end Adam Shaheen muffed the catch on the kickoff and the Eagles recovered to deny Chicago a last ditch effort for a Hail Mary and an attempt to tie the game with a two-point conversion.

Jordan Howard scored a touchdown in his first game against his former team, finishing with 19 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown. Zach Ertz had his best game of the season as the Eagles tight end had nine catches for 103 yards and a touchdown, a 25-yard catch for his second score of 2019.

The Bears had just nine total yards in the first half, but rallied back in this game with two scoring drives in three possessions between the third and fourth quarter. Chicago’s offense had no turnovers, but finished with just 164 yards of offense. Mitchell Trubisky went 10 of 21 for 125 yards with no touchdowns and a 66.6 passer rating. The Bears have lost their fourth consecutive game after a 3-1 start to the season, falling to 3-5 and remaining in last place in the NFC North.

  • In the most critical defensive play of the game, with the Indianapolis Colts inside the Eagles five yard line with under 2 minutes to play on fourth down, Eagles defensive end DEREK BARNETT trips up Colts quarterback Andrew Luck to preserve the Eagles win. The Eagles went on to defeat the Collts 20-16.

Check out these 7 selected images from today’s Philadelphia Eagles vs. Indianapolis Colts game from Lincoln Financial Field. In his first game since tearing two ligaments in his left knee, CARSON WENTZ, returned to action in a rain-soaked field.
After leading his team to an early touchdown and a 7-0 lead on a nifty touchdown pass to rookie tight end DALLAS GOEDERT( the first NFL touchdown of GOEDERT’s career) CARSON WENTZ struggled somewhat to find the sharpness of last year. Trailing 16-13 in the fourth quarter, WENTZ led a 17 play, 75 yard drive, culminating in a winning touchdown on a 4 yard run by WENDELL SMALLWOOD. Overall, CARSON WENTZ completed 25 of 37 passes for 255 yards, one passing touchdown, one interception, and one fumble.
The heroes of the game, however, were the defensive team, led by defensive end, DEREK BARNETT, who held the Colts to 209 total yards. The key defensive play of the game occurred with less than two minutes left to play with the Colts on the Eagles 5 yard line and fourth down, when DEREK BARNETT tripped up Colts quarterback ANDREW LUCK to end the threat on the Eagles’ 4 yard line. The Eagles held on to win 20-16.

  • Philadelphia Eagles defensive end, DEREK BARNETT, blocks a field goal attempt by San Francisco 49ers kicker ROBBIE GOULD in the fourth quarter at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles went on to win 33-10, improving  their record to 7-1, the best in the NFL.

I have uploaded eight selected images from today’s San Francisco 49ers vs Philadelphia Eagles game which capture the key plays of the game. The Eagles, despite reflecting some weaknesses on their offensive line, soundly defeated the 49ers 33-10.  The NINERS are an extremely weak team having lost every game this year and are 0-8 for the first time in franchise history; therefore, it is very difficult to assess the Eagles performance today. Nevertheless, the Eagles are now 7-1, the best record in the NFL.  CARSON WENTZ leads the NFL with the 19 TD passes, the most by an Eagles quarterback through eight games. The Eagles defense again played very well, sacking the 49ers quarterback 4 times, blocking a field goal, and holding them to 10 points.

There is no question that CARSON WENTZ is a legitimate MVP candidate, despite his mediocre performance today. Next week the Denver Broncos will provide a better test of how good the Eagles really are. Of course, I will be there .

On a different note, the weather was miserable and several of the 49ers continued to protest during the National Anthem.
