Dick Druckman has captured some of the finest moments at Yankee Stadium, from Andy Pettitte’s opening pitch in the last game at “The House that Ruth Built”, to Derek Jeter’s 3,000th-career hit as a member of the Bronx Bombers.

  • New York Yankees manager, JOE GIRARDI, takes the ball from starting pitcher, BRYAN MITCHELL, in the top of the sixth inning. In his first major league outing this year, MITCHELL pitched 5 plus innings allowing no runs, 4 hits, stirking out 2 and leading the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Blue Jays and a sweep of the three game series.

I have captured 5 selected images from tonight’s New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays game. With outstanding pitching by Bryan Mitchell, Luis Severino, and Tyler Clippard, and a home run by Starlin Castro, the Yankees swept the division leading Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees are now serious
Contenders for at least a wild card spot in the American League. The uploaded images capture the essence of the game and I hope you enjoy them and find them as visually appealing as I do.

  • New York Yankees relief pitcher, LUIS SEVERINO, strikes out Toronto Blue Jays outfieldeer Melvin Upton Jr. in the seventh inning at Yankee Stadium. SEVERINO pitched 3 innings allowing only 1 hit no runs and striking out 3, leading the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Blue Jays and a sweep of the three game series.

  • New York Yankees starting pitcher, BRYAN MITCHELL, in his first major league outing this year, earned his first win defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 2-0. The 25 year old right hander pitched shutout ball for 5 innings, allowing only 4 hits, striking out 2 and giving up only 2 walks.

  • New York Yankees left fielder, BRETT GARDNER, homers in the third inning against Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez to tie the game 1-1. The Red Sox went on to win 5-2.

This is just one of the 5 selected images I uploaded from today’s Boston Red Sox vs New York Yankees game from Yankee Stadium. Boston Red Sox starting pitcher, EDUARDO RODRIGUEZ, off to a terrible start this year with an ERA of 8.6 and starting his first game from having been sent down to the
Minors , turned in an outstanding performance against the Yankees. Rodriguez pitched 7 complete innings allowing only 4 hits and 1 earned run leading the Red Sox to a 5-2 victory. The Red Sox trail the Baltimore Orioles by only 2 games and given the trading moves that the Red Sox have made over the last week or so, they are in a strong position to challenge the Orioles for the lead of their division. Boston Red Sox catcher, Sandy Leon, went 2 for 4 , including a 3-run home run and drove in 4 runs overall.

  • With the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 7th inning, New York Yankees outfielder AARON HICKS hits a tie breaking home run off of Boston Red Sox starter, Rick Porcello, giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  Acquired from Minnesota in the off season, HICKS  was hitting .088 with no extra base hits and 2 RBIs in only 34 plate appearances.

Some wild things happened at the Red Sox Yankees game. One can never predict what will happen at these games. Questioning the umpires plate calls in the 9th innning, both Farrell and Ortiz were ejected from the game.

  • New York Yankees manager, JOE GIRARDI, argues with plate umpire, DANA DeMUTH, that Houston Astros shortstop should have been called out for running in fair territory on a dribbler to first base and a throwing error by the pitcher in the eighth inning. The tie breaking run scored and the safe call was upheld by the four umpires and Girardi played the remainder of the game under protest. The Houston Astros went on to win 5-3.

  • New York Yankees starting pitcher, MASAHIRO TANAKA, throws the first pitch of the season opener to Houston Astro’s second baseman, Jose Altuve. TANAKA pitched a solid game allowing 4 hits and only 2 runs over 5 2/3 innings while striking out 4 and allowing only one walk. Despite his efforts, the Yankees lost their home opener 5-3.
