  • New York Mets starting pitcher, BARTOLO COLON, hands the ball off to Mets manager,TERRY COLLINS, in the seventh inning of the fourth game of the Subway Series. COLON gave up 6 hits and only one run in 6 2/3 innings, while earning his 228th victory, the most among active players. COLON, who spent 2011 with the Yankees, is the first pitcher to win a Subway Series game for each new York team.

A second highlight of this game was that New York Mets recently acquired right fielder from Cincinnati, JAY BRUCE, hit his first home run as a Met, after going 0 for 10 prior to his first hit and home run.

  • New York Mets manager, TERRY COLLINS, gets ejected from the game by home plate umpire ADAM HAMARI in the third inning after COLLINS argued with HAMARI for throwing Mets starting pitcher, Noah Syndergaard , out of the game for intentionally throwing a pitch behind Chase Utley. The Mets went on to lose 9-1 to the L. A. DODGERS.

The game was driven by two major events: First, the ejection of Mets’ starting pitcher, Noah Syndergaard, for allegedly throwing a pitch behind Chase Utley on purpose, followed by the arguing and subsequent ejection of the New York Mets manager, Terry Collins. And secondly, the hitting barrage of Chase Utley, who hit two home runs, the second of which was a grand slam in the 7th inning.
    These two events, coupled with strong pitching performance of Dodgers’ starting pitcher, Kenta Maeda, spelled victory for the Dodgers.
