The 2012 Summer Olympics, formally the Games of the XXX Olympiad and commonly known as London 2012, was a major international multi-sport event celebrated in the tradition of the Olympic Games. It took place in London and to a lesser extent across the United Kingdom from 25 July to 12 August 2012.

She was the captain of the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team, dubbed the Fierce Five by the media, at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, where she won gold medals in the team and floor competitions, as well as a bronze medal on the balance beam making her the most decorated American gymnast at the London Games.
