  • YOGI BERRA AND WHITEY FORD HONOR MARIANO RIVERA OPENING DAY 2010

YogiBerra (May 12, 1925 – September 22, 2015) was an American professional baseball catcher, manager, and coach who played 19 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) (1946–63, 1965), all but the last for the New York Yankees. An 18-time All-Star and 10-time World Series champion as a player, Berra had a career batting average of .285, while compiling 358 home runs and 1,430 runs batted in. He is one of only five players to win the American League Most Valuable Player Award three times. Widely regarded as one of the greatest catchers in baseball history, Berra was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.

A native of St. Louis, Berra signed with the Yankees in 1943 before serving in the U.S. Navy in World War II. Making his major-league debut in 1946, he was a mainstay in the Yankees’ lineup during the team’s championship years in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Despite his short stature, Berra was a power hitter and strong defensive catcher. Berra caught Don Larsen’s perfect game in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series, the only perfect game in MLB postseason history. After playing 18 seasons with the Yankees, Berra retired following the 1963 season. He spent one season as their manager, then joined the New York Mets in 1965 as coach (and briefly a player again). Berra remained with the Mets for the next decade, serving the last four years as their manager. Berra returned to the Yankees in 1976, coaching them for eight seasons and managing for two, before coaching the Houston Astros. He was one of seven managers to lead both American and National League teams to the World Series. As a player, coach, or manager, Berra appeared in 21 World Series and won 13 of them.

  • New York Yankees starting pitcher, LUIS SEVERINO, pitches his 99th and last pitch to Boston Red Sox second baseman Brock Holt. SEVERINO pitched 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball, allowing only 2 hits, striking out 6 and allowing only 3 walks leading the Yankees to a 11-1 route of the Boston Red Sox

Uploaded here are 7 selected images from tonight’s Red Sox/Yankees game from Yankee Stadium. I think you will like them and hopefully be able to use one or two of them—-they are particularly strong.
New York Yankees starting pitcher, LUIS SEVERINO, became the first 13 game winner in the majors, pitching 6 2/3rd innings of shutout ball, allowing only 2 hits, striking out 6 and walking 3. Severino was supported by 6 home runs, of which three were hit by leadoff batter, AARON HICKS.
GLYBER TORRES hit another three-run home run and he now leads the major leagues with 6 three-run home runs.

Finally, Yankees third string catcher, KYLE HIGASHIOKA, who had gone 0 for 22 in the major leagues, got his first hit, a home run into the second deck in left field.
It was a great night for the Yankees, not so much for the Red Sox. But, it is a long season and the Red Sox rivalry will continue all year long. The Yankees play the final three games of the season at Fenway Park.

  • New York Yankees Aaron Judge hits his first grand slam home run against Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Andrew Triggs in the third inning, his 16th home run of the year and his 34th RBI. JUDGE went 2 for 4 leading the Yankees to a 9-5 victory.

These 7 selected iconic images from the New York Yankees vs Oakland Athletics game of May 28, 2017. The highlight of the game was Aaron Judge's first career grand slam home run, which was his 16th home run of the year and his 34th RBI. Judge went 2 for 4 leading the Yankees to a 9-5 victory. Michael Pineda pitched another great game earning his 6h victory allowing only 3 hits and 3 runs and striking out 5 over 6 innings. Aaron Judge could very well be the MVP of the year and bring the New York Yankees another Championship.
