  • New York Yankees shortstop, DIDI GREGORIUS, gets a high five from Brett Gardner, after hitting his second home run of the game in the seventh inning off of Tampa Bay reliever Austin Pruitt. GREGORIUS went 4 for 4, driving in 8 runs setting a major league record for RBIs by a player in a home opener and a Yankee record for RBIs by a shortstop. The Yankees won 11-4.

Derek Jeter, who was he? Starting his fourth season as Derek Jeter’s successor, DIDI GREGORIUS, had a spectacular home opener. GREGORIUS went 4 for 4, with two three-run home runs, driving in 8 runs, setting a major league record for RBIs by a player in a home opener AND setting a Yankee record for RBIs by a shortstop. On the opposite side of the ledger, recently acquired slugger, GIANCARLO STANTON, struck out 5 times his first five-times strike out game of his career. Dispite his dismal start, the Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 11-4 in their home opener.
Joanie and I are now off to Boston for their home opener against the same Tampa Bay Rays.
Attached are four images that I sent on to SI, AP, and Zuma Press. Look for us in the front row on Thursday night.
I am now headed for the New York Yankees home opener on April 2.
