The 2007 World Series featured the National League champions Colorado Rockies (making their first World Series appearance) and American League champions Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox swept the Rockies to collect their second World Series championship in four seasons and their seventh overall; it also marked the third sweep in four years by the AL champions.
New York Mets outfileder YOENIS CESPEDES hit a foul tip off of his left knee in the bottom of the 6th inning in game 5 of the Wrorld Series. After grounding out to first base, CESPEDES left the game unable to continue. The Royals defeated the Mets 7-2 for the World Series Championship.
On the first pitch of the game, New York Mets starting pitcher NOAH SYNDERGAARD gives Kansas City shortstop ALCIDES ESCOBAR a message by throwing a 98 mile fastball inside and high knocking him to the ground onto his butt.
