In their first meeting at Yankee Stadium since 2003, the New York Yankees defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3. This was the Yankees’ fifth straight win. The game was highlighted by strong starting pitching by MASAHIRO TANAKA, who pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5. DELLIN BETANCES and AROLDIS CHAPMAN pitched the 8th and 9th innings without giving up a run. The two hitting stars were STARLIN CASTRO and AUSTIN ROMINE each of whom homered.

CHAPMAN was taken out of the game after walking Guyer having thrown 20 pitches. The Cubs went on to win 9-3 and forcing a game 7.

Harry Caray was right—“As sure as God created green apples, someday the Cubs are going to be in the World Series”… and they are. I am planning to go to game 6 and 7, if they take place.
